Inspired by Psalm 16:11
There are days when life feels like a long stretch of highway, miles of responsibilities, unexpected detours, and moments where the fuel light of our soul flickers on. We push forward anyway, hoping we can make it just a little farther before we run out of strength. But what if joy wasn’t something we had to search for in the distance? What if it was simply the next exit?
Psalm 16:11 gives us this promise, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy.” Not a sprinkle of joy. Not a hint. Fullness. A tank filled to the brim.
That means joy isn’t a reward for perfect circumstances, it’s a resource God freely offers. His presence is the refueling station our hearts have been longing for. When we pull off the busy road and pause with Him, something shifts. The weight we’ve been carrying lightens. The noise quiets. The path becomes clearer. And joy, real, steady, soul-deep joy begins to rise again.
Maybe you’ve been running on fumes lately. Maybe you’ve been giving more than you’ve been receiving. Maybe you’ve been trying to hold everything together on your own strength. Hear this gently: you don’t have to.
There is a place of rest for you. A place of renewal. A place where joy is not scarce but overflowing. And it’s closer than you think.
Today, take the exit. Step away from the rush, even if only for a moment. Breathe. Pray. Sit with God. Let His presence fill the empty places. Let Him remind you that joy is not lost, it’s waiting.
Your soul was never meant to run dry. Joy is your fuel. God is your source. And the next exit is open.
